At the local car lot
I went to meet my client to have a look at a two year old low mileage two door coupe. The car was certified? The car was inspected? The seller had a copy of a carproof report, saying according to car proof the car was clean? What does that even mean? Long story short, I inspected the car and showed my client how the car had been involved in a serious front collision and repaired with a lot of aftermarket parts. The fenders, hood, front bumper, fan and radiator had all been replaced with non original parts. The rad/bumper supports had been rewelded. There was no declaration and the car had been repaired by and was being sold by the original dealer as non accidented?
Why have a car inspected?
What if the car was involved in a minor Fender bender?
Would you like to know everything about the car your interested in buying today, including what happened to it in the past? What if the present owner decides that any accident damage was so minor that it's really not important enough to let you know about it? Or the owner considers that because it was repaired by a proffessional shop it doesn't matter anymore? Or possibly that the present owner is not the original owner and therefore might not even know the car was damaged? Or the dealer selling the car has a report showing no information about an accident and
therefore represents there was no accident?
The car has been fully inspected and certified to be accident free? What is an accident? How can this affect the car's warranty, value or anything else in the future? If you have the car inspected by a proffessional independant and knowledgable inspector before you buy the car you will know enough to make an informed desision about buying it without it becoming a costly mistake. You will not be left wondering, what happened before you got behind the wheel?

How was the car maintained?
Even if the car is still on warranty, has been inspected and is certified by the seller. How was the car previously maintained, do you have a complete service history? Not a work order showing the last oil change and set of brake pads that have been replaced. Can you get a non biased opinion on the overall condition of the car? With an independant inspection you will know if there are any active leaks or if any damage has occured due to previous problems or repairs. If there are any issues that should be addressed imediatly you will know before you take possesion of the car.
Taking a road trip with your own car?
It would be a good idea to have your car looked at before embarking on a road trip to make sure you will get there and back with no problems, or if you have been quoted a costly sum to do a repair that your not really sure about get another opinion.
